Myra Griffith widow of W O Mitchell and a longtime Floresville resident died recently. A private service was held at the Mitchell home with large attendance. Rev I J White of San Marcos and Rev H H Chaffee conducted the ceremony. Interment was in Floresville cemetery. The Chronicle Journal extends sympathy. full obituary to follow.
Wilson county tax collector A E Oates warns that auto tax must be paid by December 31 to avoid penalties. Drivers urged to visit the office or mail payment with last year’s receipt and vehicle details. Truck owners must have vehicles weighed and provide weigher's receipt with license applications.
J. W. Murray died Monday at his home near Floresville at 7 30 pm age 20 years 11 days after a year long illness He was the son of Mr and Mrs J Le Murray and grew up on the Floresville area farm The funeral was held Tuesday noon at Floresville cemetery with Rev J B pastor of the Flores arch officiating

Harry Comstock, 81, fell into a hollow tree and survived ten days trapped. Deputies, farmers, and Wesday afternoon rescuers cut into the trunk with an axe, freeing him after a half hour. He drank a gallon of water, had no food or water during confinement, and suffered bruises from the escape attempts. He was brought to the sheriff's office for medical care with food to be given gradually.
