Sergeants Sam Seale Milton James and Talmage Lackey of the Second Brigade Texas Cavalry return from Camp Stanley where they completed courses. All three are praised by friends as they resume duties, with Lackey recommended for further duty.
An important telegram from Bluff Texas notes the wartime Christmas membership drive of Chapter A R C Floresville region. It recalls the prior year's Southwestern Division lead in five states Missouri Kansas Arkansas Oklahoma and Texas and urges a broad service flag display and Red Cross button uptake to demonstrate wartime unity and oppose the influenza epidemic.
At the State Democratic Convention in Waco a push was made to organize a Woman's Democratic League in every county. Mrs W B Toone was elected County Chairman and Mrs L B Knox Secretary, with vice chairmen named. Influenza prevents delaying. interested readers should contact Toone or Knox to join.
The Chronicle Journal announces a box supper at Marcelena school tomorrow night Saturday to raise funds. Proceeds will support the construction of a new light.
Government report shows Wilson County gins produced 14194 bales by November 14 1918 up from 8314 bales for the same date last year. The figures reflect year to date gains in cotton output and indicate substantial growth in local production.
There will be services at the Evangelic Friedens Church in Three Oaks next Sunday December 15 with Sunday School at 9 a.m. followed by preaching by Rev. Knicker of Cibolo.
