The Floresville Chamber of Commerce outlines a community program to remember and honor local children. Organizers aim to involve schools, families, and volunteers in activities that celebrate youth, with planned events and outreach.
The Floresville chamber of commerce invites all residents to a Christmas Tree and program on Christmas Eve at 6 30 p m at the courthouse yard. Saint Nick will give gifts to every child. The event, sponsored for three years, includes committees for finance tree decoration distribution and program logistics with Legion and PTA involvement.

Members of Floresville Chapter No. 271 Order of the Eastern Star held a Christmas program at the Masonic hall on Tuesday evening. Ruth Spruce, Worthy Matron, reported on the Grand Chapter meeting in San Angelo. Santa, aided by Mrs. Spruce, presided as secretary, with four members needing to prove eligibility for Santa’s favors. Performances included Mrs. J. W. Oxford as Graham McNamee, Sam Fore Jr. as a divine, Inez Franklin singing, and a Salvation Army Lassie, ending with carols and treats.
Two basketball practice games pitted Poth and Floresville against each other as warmups for upcoming Wilson County Inter scholastic League contests after Christmas. Poth won 16 to 13 in a hard fought match with Vladik Miculka starring for Floresville’s visitors. Floresville defeated Path 28 to 16 on Wednesday.
Mrs Marshall Henson spent several nap thin week with her mother in San Antonio, reflecting a brief family visit amid travel notes.

The first quarterly conference for the annual conference year will be held Sunday December 21 at the Methodist Church. Dr Fletcher will preach at eleven o'clock that day. All officers and members are urged to cooperate in preparing the report for the conference. A A Carter Pastor.
The writer notes a peculiar coincidence Tuesday afternoon when four automobiles, each with license plates from Ohio Illinois Texas, were parked together in a row near the post office. The out of state cars were driven by tourists and travelers.
The Wilson County Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met on Saturday December 6 1930. Members present include S P Conn J J Irwin J E Box C Driskill B Liefeste W K Driskill J B Swift and others. They set Floresville March 20 1931 as the county meet location and date and outlined finances and admission rules. Also approved a volleyball tournament at Path March 14 1931 and a round robin basketball championship with a 1931 schedule for county schools including Floresville Poth La Vernia Stockdale Midway Pandora and Fairview.
A Floresville Methodist church stewards night at Dr. C W Archer home featured a venison feast prepared by Mrs Archer and daughters. Sixteen stewards plus Rev A Ay Carter and Rev J F Archer attended a social hour and business meeting, praising the hosts for a delightful evening.
Blues yodeling star Jimmie Rodgers, famed as America s blues singer, will headline a pre Christmas holiday show at the Arcadia Theatre next Thursday night December 18. Rodger s nationwide renown is noted, with local ownership by Cath Sohnsdh and a company representative arranging the appearance.
The Athletic Council awards the Tiger squad for their work on the gridiron last season. The junior team is also praised for performance and sportsmanship.
At a Wednesday night Athletic Council meeting the Floresville High School coaches voted unanimously to award 14 letters to Tiger football players in recognition of their season’s work. The list includes captain Tom Carnes, Raynold Flores, Hubert Avant, Victor Miculka, and others. a later presentation date is planned.
