Mary Schultz Dies After Long Illness at Black Hill

Mrs Mary Schultz wife of Leevy Schultz died at her home in the Black Hill community west of Floresville on Thursday November 27 1947 at 415 p m after years of ill health She spent months at a Sanatorium Texas for treatment Religious services were held at Murray Funeral Home Floresville and burial followed in Floresville cemetery Rev Carl Burkle officiated Pallbearers named include Alex Kapelman Frieda Reininger Edwin Seay Armin Beutnagel Elmer Beutnagel and Wm Beutnagel Jr Surviving are her husband her parents Ben and Mrs Oltjendiers three children Mary Lee 17 Elgin 14 and Elrose Schultz 10 Born December 30 1909 she was a member of the Three Oaks Evangelical Friedens Church and noted for a consecrated Christian life Our deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

Bi-District Play-Off Pearsall Last Night

Floresville Honors World War II Hero Edward L Huna

Floresville held a 9:30 a.m. ceremony December 4, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church for Pvt Edward L Huna killed in action in Germany on March 16, 1945. His brother Sgt Alvin J Huna served nearby, and the body arrived in New York October 26 from Henri Chapelle Cemetery. He is survived by his parents and two brothers, with Floresville and Wilson County paying tribute to a local fallen soldier.

Fire Outbreak Quelled Near Graf Home

An out of city fire was extinguished on November 27 at Pickett Place near the Graf home. The blaze appeared to start from a faulty chimney and caused local concern but no injuries were reported.

Floresville Mourns Death Of Carl R Eschenburg Civic Leader

Floresville and Wilson County mourn the death of Carl R Eschenburg 46 a prominent businessman rancher and civic leader who died at Nix Hospital San Antonio after a three day illness. A Texas A M graduate he worked with his father for over twenty years and served eleven years on the Floresville school board. Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church with a large turnout as Floresville closed businesses in his honor. He leaves a widow Janie and three children Robert Lee Carl Jr and Martha Jane along with his parents a brother and a sister.

Two Men Die After Family Shooting Near Stockdale

In Stockdale Texas a husband Frank Birch 36 and his brother in law Paul Howton 36 exchanged gunfire after Howton arrived at Birch home. Birch wounded Howton died later from shotgun blast while Birch died from abdomen wound in Seguin hospital. Inquest to be held by Justice of the Peace J P McCowan with Sheriff Paul Ermler and Deputy Ace Fuller. Both men longtime construction workers and residents nearby.

Gus Schmidt 72 a Floresville resident and longtime blacksmith died at his home after a stroke suffered at the post office Tuesday morning He is survived by his wife and several children The funeral was scheduled for Friday in Floresville as announced by local authorities
