Floresville Eastern Star Celebrates 75th Anniversary
The Floresville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star marked its seventy fifth anniversary on Monday November 10 1980 with a Harvest of Gold Banquet at the Middle School cafeteria. Worthy Grand Matron Lena Maye Cook and Worthy Grand Patron Thurman H Perry were honored. A large gathering of past matrons patrons and Grand officers attended and Jewel Woolsey received a standing ovation for sixty years of service.

Floresville Memorial Hospital announces the extension of its Outreach Program with the addition of Daniel Alderette CAC to provide social work services for patients and families. Alderette brings about eight years of experience in individual and family counseling for alcoholism and substance abuse. The program, via the San Antonio State Hospital, supports Joint Commission requirements and offers educational presentations to civic groups and schools.

Floresville Students Earn UIL Practice Meet Trophies
Floresville High School sent thirteen students to the UIL Practice Meet in Pleasanton earning multiple trophies and ribbons. Freshman James Epperson took second in Novice Number Sense, senior Linda King second in Readywriting, and sophomore Angelina Vazquez second in Spelling. Fourth place ribbons went to sophomores Julie Hoelscher and Nancy Keen in Debate. Several participants received ribbons despite not placing. Floresville finished sixth among twelve schools with 30 points as sponsors Lydia Martinez and Gwen Hierholzer aim for a first place at the April District Meet.
