Peanut Marketing Quota Referendum Set For December 15
The USDA announced a referendum on peanut marketing quotas for 1960 1961 and 1962 crops to be held December 16 1959. If two thirds of voters approve quotas they will apply for three years otherwise no quotas in 1960 with a new vote in 1960. Quotas involve price support eligibility and penalties for excess peanuts. The 1960 quota was set at 934000 tons with a 1610000 acre national allotment.

E F Woolsey Jr chairman of the Wilson County Savings Bonds Committee announced that October sales totaled 9457 with ten month sales at 162 583 or 85 1 percent of the 191 000 yearly goal. Texas E bond sales for October reached 12 618 557 an increase of 1.8 million over September. The Treasury announced from 1960 all Series E unmatured and J bonds could be exchanged for Series H with deferment of interest.
