In a close first half the Beavers led early and added a 17 yard TD after a fumbled punt. Zerda returned a kickoff 18 yards for a score. Beavers defense shut down the Bulldogs to 43 yards rushing as Temple hosts Troy for the Regional Title Friday December 8 at 8 PM.
Paries projects advance in Wilson County area as cooperative groups sign with the Soil Conservation Service. Landowners N R Slosson Leroy Kirchoff Oaks Conservation Fairview and Oscar Moser join, with Tecal SCS technicians aiding farm conservation plans for terraces ponds and water supply. Other cooperators including H Gis Labus Kasper Kollodziej Pirie and residents Houston Albert Marron Richter Bloodworth Harrell Haese Dunn and Sanders conduct terraces and water plans on cropland.
The Sunnyside Community Club will hold its regular meeting tonight at 7 30. Everyone cordially invited to attend. Mrs Virginia Oswald spent Thanksgiving with her sister Mrs Edith Savidge at Lasara in the Rio Grande Valley.
Floresville hosts a Santa Visit program sponsored by the Lions Club and local merchants. Santa will stop at the former Ballard Drug Store Building on courthouse square from 2:00 to 4:00 PM each Saturday December 4, 11, and 18. A December January meeting at the Agriculture Building Seguin brought Wilson County Farm Bureau leaders and Blue Cross Blue Shield staff to map increased hospitalization and surgical coverage for Farm Bureau families. Texas Farm Bureau intends a statewide enrollment drive for its members with the new Catastrophic Illness Endorsement, including cancer, not previously available to Farm Bureau groups.
Floresville school band directed by Prug Teltschile will present its annual Christmas concert at the high school gym Tuesday night December 22 at 7 30 PM. The general public is cordially invited.
Deadline for reservations for the annual O E S Christmas Banquet is December 15. The event will be held at 6 00 PM Monday December 20 at Wrights Cafe. For reservations call Mrs Ava McDaniel Miss Allah R Warren or Mrs Inez Jackson. Price per plate is 1 25.
Cotton growers face a pivotal December 14 referendum on marketing quotas for 1956. Chairman William Moss notes two thirds approval needed for price support, with 1955 upland cotton support between 84 and 90 percent of parity. a one third or more opposition risks 50 percent parity. Local voting sites and hours are listed, urging growers to vote after careful study of the far reaching effects.
A Tuesday sale moved 396 head of livestock, including hogs priced up to 19.00 per head and feeders around 18.00, with pigs ranging from 5.00 to 10.00 per head. Mrs Palma Frick, president of Wilson County Women Democratic, plans to join a group from San Antonio in New Orleans for a two day Democratic gathering. The program features National Committee meeting, Texas Breakfast with Lyndon B Johnson and Sam Rayburn, plus Adlai Stevenson and a Victory Dinner broadcast on national radio. Wilson County Democrats praise her attendance as representative of the party.
