Fire Destroys Large Acreage At Twin Lakes Subdivision
A grass fire in Twin Lakes Subdivision Wilson County off County Road 307 burned 100 to 125 acres. Eleven volunteer fire departments and EMS responded. no structures were lost and one firefighter was treated. Cause under investigation by Fire Marshal R Allan Lovelace.

Two motorcycle crashes and a hit and run in Wilson County
On Saturday August 10 1996 James Robert Brownson of Kelly AFB rode a 1987 Honda northbound on US 181. Bruce Deholand Reed of Universal City rode a Yamaha also northbound and collided rear of Brownson causing Reed to lose control into the median. Brownson remained on the shoulder while Reed refused treatment at the scene investigated by DPS Officer E C Haltom with charges of Fail to Control Speed. A motorcycle was removed from the scene and the other towed. On Saturday August 17 1996 Douglas Dwayne Dugosh of Falls City in a 1996 Chevrolet pickup was southbound on US 181 when a Ford Extend Cab turning left on Business 181 struck its right side. The Ford left the scene and was not located. The crash occurred 8 miles south of Floresville on US 181 and Business Loop 181 at 9 10 p m. DPS Officer Jim Stewart investigated. No injuries and no charges.
