Parade Boost Underway for Wilson County Peanut Festival
Parade committee urges towns in Wilson County to enter floats trucks and farm displays for the opening parade next Friday at 10 a.m. Officials say it could be one of the best ever and invite entries from diverse communities. Peanut Growers Leader to Attend Southwest Festival
J D Sargent president of the Southwestern Peanut Growers Association and E D David manager will appear at the festival opening in Gorman Texas Friday Sept 5. They join Ralph McMillen and Rep John B Lyle at 2 30 pm for a farmers meeting in the county courthouse and the Wilson County Farm Bureau sponsored program. Sargent has long led the association since 1937 and serves on the National Peanut Council board of directors.

Floresville public schools will open Tuesday September 2 with registrations and a detailed first day schedule. Bus service starts that day with staggered times. faculty meet at 8:00 to 9:30 AM and classes begin 10:00 AM for high school registration followed by elementary matriculation.
