Civet Cat Attack in Floresville Fatally Wounds Farmer
Richard Vaclavik, a young farmer near Floresville in the Picosa community, was bitten on the face by a civet cat while asleep on his parents porch. The animal was found dead. He died during the attack, and his father rushed him and the carcass to a doctor. The cat tested rabid. both men began rabies treatment while healing efforts continued.

Tragic Drowning of 15YearOld John Chappell Near Stockdale
John Russell Chappell age 15 son of Mr and Mrs Stanley Chappell of Elgin drowned in the Cibolo River near the Old Wheeler Mill close to Stockdale Sunday morning. He had been visiting grandparents in Stockdale and went swimming at a known deep hole with others before dawn. Despite efforts by his father and uncle, his body was recovered after about two hours. Services were held at Salmon Funeral Home Stockdale and at First Baptist Elgin with burial in Elgin Cemetery. The community mourns the loss and extends sympathy to the Chappell family.

Mrs Anna Winter 88 Dies in Minnesota Rites Held
Anna Winter 88 mother of Rev Theodor Winter pastor of Floresville First Lutheran Church died Monday night at the Luverne Minnesota home of her daughter Mrs Peter Fick after a visit there. She had been ill and relatives were advised by wire. Funeral Thursday burial in a country cemetery near Town. She is survived by two daughters and seven sons.
