Several Injured In Car Wreck Saturday
Three men were sent topilal for treatment after a Saturday car wreck. Nicolas Lemon of Poteet sustained a fractured skull and head cuts. Joe Montoya of Fairview had facial and head cuts. Marcus Rodrigues of Picosa suffered head and facial injuries. All are expected to recover.

Soil Conservation Plan Well Received

Poth Soldier Killed in Action in Europe 1944
The Poth community mourns Pvt. Jose G. Ochoa killed in action in the European theater on June 29 1944. He served in a field artillery division and is survived by his father Joe Ochoa sisters Elisa Ollaya Valadez Maggie Eva and Henrietta Ochoa and a niece Guadalupe Ochoa. Cousin Pvt Arthur Coy also died in Italy on March 12 1944.

George H King of Pleasanton died in a San Antonio hospital on Saturday August 19 at age 58. He is survived by his wife Maude Swift King of Pleasanton, son Charles King overseas, brother John Beaulieu of Malden Massachusetts, and sister Mrs Paul La Vassar of Fall River Massachusetts. Funeral services were held from the Chapel of the Alamo Funeral Home at 10 a.m.

Poth Church Barbecue Draws Record Crowd in Poth
The Blessed Sacrament Parish of Poth held its annual barbecue last Sunday drawing an estimated crowd of 2000 or more. A barbecue supper began at 6 o'clock and, due to the large turnout, it took several hours to serve. About 2600 pounds of bar- items were noted in the account.

A Floresville high school graduate with a degree from Texas University she will enter Girl Scout work in the Dallas Regional office.

Eugene Bryant new head of Stockdale schools visited Floresville on business and called at the Chronicle Journal office. He recently began duties in Stockdale and will relocate his family from Skidmore once housing is found.
