Point Barrow Alaska Aug 16 Will Rogers and Wiley Post two of aviation's great boosters are dead in a crash near Walkpi Eskimo village after takeoff in fog from Post's monoplane. The pontoons failed and the craft crashed into tundra. Rogers was hurled from the cockpit while Post perished amid wreckage.

Baptist Ladies Missionary Social Observes Japan Study
The Baptist Ladies Missionary Social met last Monday afternoon at Mrs. J. C. Merchant’s home with entertainment by Mrs. Leo Johns and Mrs. William Smith. Miss Mamie Sutherland led the Japan study. prayers by Mrs. Lewis McVea. A plan to fund Buckner Orphans Home was outlined with three volunteer groups. Refreshments followed as the meeting closed. Killing of J. C. Wiseman shocks Wilson county town
J C Wiseman a prominent young attorney from a well known Wilson county family was shot in the street near a vacant store in Vernin Friday afternoon. Night watchman Ferdinand Koepp 28 held the shotgun and was arrested after Wiseman died instantly from a stomach wound. A murder charge was filed Saturday and Koepp is in Floresville jail awaiting an examining trial with District Attorney L Morgan Williams likely to prosecute. Wiseman who studied at Texas University and practiced law in Floresville and Lavernia was 36 and never married. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon led by Rev Grier in San Antonio.
