Farm Offices Move To New Locations
Government offices formerly upstairs in the Lux Building near the courthouse square have relocated. The Wilson County A. S. C. and Farmer's Home Administration offices now occupy the second floor of the First City National Bank building above the bank. The Wilson County Soil Conservation Service moved to the second floor of the Merchant building on C Street beside the city hall. Both sites were remodeled and air conditioned.

Kosciusko All Day Church Picnic At St Ann's
St Ann's Church will hold an all day Kosciusko celebration next Sunday August 24 with two all you can eat meals. Dinner starts 1130 AM and supper at 5 PM. Breaking Service Sunday Mission Here at First Baptist
Breaking Services were held Sunday August 17 1958 at 5 PM for the new Mexican Mission building to be erected by the First Baptist Church on the corner of First and Trail Streets. The old work began in 1937 and the present building was built in 1941. Elbert W. Franklin chairman of deacons and M Jimenez long time member and Rev Bill Ybarra the Pastor pictured turning the first shovel of dirt. Rev Mike Mojica associate superintendent of City Missions in San Antonio brought the dedication sermon. The prayer was given by Rev S Martinez pastor of First Mexican Baptist Church in Beeville. The 2800 square foot building is being constructed by Alamo Lumber Co at a contract price of 18975 dollars.

Rev. Lewis McVea a retired Baptist minister died suddenly of a heart attack at his Floresville area farm Monday August 18 1958 at 9 15 AM He was 76 years old The funeral rites were held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church Floresville with Rev H D Freeman and Rev Claude Jacks officiating Choir and organist Mrs W A Smith provided music McVea born October 18 1881 in Waelder Texas married Minnie Woolsey June 12 1911 and served as pastor in Martindale San Antonio Bishop Robstown and assistant at First Baptist San Antonio He was a WWI chaplain at Camp Travis a Mason Scottish Rite 32nd degree and Shriner He studied at Vanderbilt University and left a lasting impact on Southwest Texas churches and communities.

John Wheeler Returns Home After Major Surgery
John FE Wheeler, Stockdale businessman and Wilson County Democratic chair, came home Tuesday after five weeks at Nix Hospital in San Antonio with major surgery and critical illness. His condition has greatly improved and two of his sons with their families are visiting in Stockdale.

Ellinghausen Recovers After Slight Stroke
W J Ellinghausen, Floresville dry goods merchant and well known citizen, suffered a mild stroke at his home Sunday afternoon after church and dinner. He is reported to be improving Thursday despite a brief setback.

No Run Off In Wilson County Saturday
Wilson County Democratic Executive Committee decided no runoff for the August 23, 1958 primary. With only one state race, Place No 1 State Supreme Court, and no district or local runoffs, the cost of about 550 dollars to hold a runoff would fall on local candidates. Several counties avoid runoffs when no local races exist. others with local runoffs face different costs.
