Election will be held to elect community representatives and alternate delegates and committeemen for county unity. Ballots mailed to eligible voters. postmarked by 9 PM August 24 1964. In-person return allowed by 6 PM August 24 1964 at the county ASC office in Floresville Texas.
Wil son District coordinates farm pond construction this week with Soil Conservation Service and several cooperators including Vernia and Gutz groups. Thirty-one district operators used district machinery such as grain drills and rotary shredders to prepare land in July. Various farmers, including Boney Deptawa and Dalens, plan expanded pond projects and coordinated conservation efforts on their farms.
A Holstein owned by W. M. Donaho is reported to yield 23 quarts of milk per day. The animal is part of a 365-day state contest showing high efficiency and steady output for the year.
Anenie Lehriewer, 81, long respected Waldheim farmer near Floresville, died at Santa Rosa Hospital after illness. Rites planned at 8:30 a.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran, San Antonio, with Sunset Memorial Park burial. Also notes Floresville dairy herd registry record of 197,685 pounds milk and 611 pounds butterfat in 865 days, supervised by Texas A. and M. College and Holstein-Friesian Association. cow Opmsby Lyons De Kol aged 5 years 1 month produced about 8% more milk than U.S. average.

Center Point community announces Homecoming on August 29 at the Center Point Church Building instead of Floresville Hi Way Park. Everyone is invited to bring a basket lunch and enjoy an afternoon of singing.
A July 31 Dallas convention report shows conservatives booing a resolution praising Senator Lyndon Johnson and Rep. Sam Rayburn. The Dallas Morning News notes Johnson and Rayburn as national Democratic leaders, admired locally as loyal, devoted figures while others in the party are criticized for shifts toward larger cities.
The Peanut Festival will sponsor unique invitation bags sewn and filled by Girls Raul Seon. The bags, prized advertising for the Texas celebration, will likely be ready by September in Floresville stores. All proceeds benefit the festival as bags travel across the United States.
Falls City Knights of Columbus Council No. 2612 held its 82nd annual installation of officers in 1928. New officers include John Pawelek as chancellor, August Malik as financial secretary, John Szabwin ski as recorder, Chris Ploch as warden, Pawelek as treasurer, T. J. Liska as lecturer, and trustees Dero me Devik and Pred Ketzur among others.
Superintendent Carterton announced Floresville Independent School District will open September 1 with the High School at 8 45 and Elementary and Junior High at 9 00. Buses run on last year’s schedule and cafeteria service will begin on opening day. First graders must register August 24 at 9 30 with birth certificates and vaccination records.
Senator Lyndon Johnson denounces a flexible price support plan in a plain spoken critique. He argues the Administration proposal lowers farmer income to 82 percent of parity, divides Americans, and harms Texas farmers facing pest and price declines. He insists prosperous farmers mean prosperous workers and condemns the liberal price support theory.
Market active with 808 head sold at Tuesday auction. Cattle prices range from 12 to 22.80 for hogs. top hogs 22.80, sows 16 to 19, cattle and calves 5.50 to 109 per pair for cows and calves. La Vernia prepares to host the Winkle Memorial Girls Softball Tournament with the Floresville team expected to compete. The event awards the Judge Winkie Trophy for a three consecutive year champion and promises a festive evening under lights at Circle In Diamond.
Ralph Yarborough for Governor will climax his campaign with a statewide TV appearance at the Alamo in San Antonio on Thursday night August 26 at 8 00 PM. More than 75 South Texas counties will be represented with caravans from county officials and supporters.
