Peanut Festival Opens with KABC Cowboy Band Program

Moresville Peanut Festival closes arrangements with Radio Station KABC San Antonio to broadcast a one hour Cowboy Program on Friday September 24 from 12 noon to 1 P.M. It will be on the courthouse square on a large platform and follow the festival parade. Featured stars include the Texas Tophands Del Dunbar Bill Lister Betty Jean and Jimmy Wiggins. Poth Church Feast Attracts Large Crowd In Poth

The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church barbecue and bazaar at Hermann Sona Hall drew a large crowd last Sunday. Only supper was served but hundreds lined for hours to be fed. The meal featured Path country sausage varieties and an afternoon program followed by a big dance in the evening.

Mrs John N Garner Dies In Uvalde

Mrs John Nance Garner died at 4 30 p m in her sleep at her Uvalde home. Former vice president Garner was at her bedside with her husband son and nurse. Funeral was set for Wednesday at 4 30 p m in Uvalde. She had suffered illness for years and is survived by a granddaughter Genevieve Currie and two great granddaughters.

District Court In Session This Week

The Swist District Court met Monday with Judge H. D. Barrow of Jourdanton presiding. The grand jury was in session Monday and Tuesday returning 10 indictments before adjournment Tuesday. Several civil cases were tried this week.

bogus ten dollar bills appearance sparks alert

A wave of counterfeit ten dollar bills totaling about 50 090 has been reported in the United States with several notes seen in South Texas. Charles Ellis Secret Service agent urged merchants to verify notes against a genuine ten and to contact police if a suspect note is found. If possible obtain a license plate number of the vehicle used. Some bills traced to San Antonio.
