1943 Cotton Loan Program Announced
NECOLLEGE STATION Aug 18 Fair prices for their cotton is assured Texas farmers under this year s cotton loan program. Ninety percent of parity as of August 1 1948 the base of the marketing year. The basic loan rate for Texas estimates 19.90 cents per pound varies by distance from houses to mills. The loan rate on the net weight of cotton will be calculated in relation to the loan rate on 1516 mid age cotton. Differences in the basic loan rate spread from 19.75 to 19.96 cents per pound across Texas from El Paso to Houston.

County Ginning Hits 217 Bales by Aug 1 in 1943
The first official cotton report from the Department of Commerce shows Wilson county gins had produced 217 bales by August 1, 1943, up from 49 bales at the same date in the prior year. Statistician John W Wisemart notes the county’s gain reflects early season activity.

Brown Ration Stamp Book No 3 to Come Into Use

Floresville man resigns from Duncan Field to join Missouri Pacific

Texas must raise 420 million dollars for the third war loan drive starting September 9. State chairman Nath an Adams announced the new target, double the prior quota, to be raised in three weeks. The Vandercook School of Music of Chicago ended its two weeks long music school at Texas Lutheran College Seguin on Friday August 13.
