The 1966 Community Committees election will be conducted by mail in Wilson County. The County Committee releases the slate of nominees duly nominated for ASC Community Committees including Devora Joe Flieller John Jiral E W Kirchoff Leroy Labus Jerome E Meyer Marvin J.
Column warns against hate after Los Angeles violence and urges unity. It notes rioting costs lives and injuries, urges qualified leadership for rights, and cautions against vigilantism. It also reports sidewalk paving and curb cutting to ease traffic and lists local community names and election timelines for ASC committees with ballots due September 1965.
Two Charlotte women were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 181 and State Highway 97 near Floresville on Friday night. Mrs. Hinds suffered a broken left shoulder and jaw, plus a concussion, while Miss Kuykendall had a broken right leg, a fractured pelvis, and a concussion.
An old fashioned ice cream and cake supper will be held at the Sunnyside School House on Saturday August 21 at 7 30 PM. There will be domino games and all are invited. Proceeds go toward repairs on the school building.

County Commissioner B A Jimenez of Floresville Precinct 1 suffered a slight stroke at his home Thursday of last week. He had visited a ill relative in San Antonio and was taken for treatment to Baptist Memorial Hospital. Relatives reported his condition improving Wednesday morning after bedside care.
Absentee voting will continue through September 3 in Wilson County for Texans deciding on increasing the Texas Senate from 31 to 39 members. Regular election day is September 7. Voters out of the county may contact Richard Bolf, County Clerk, for absentee voting information.
A Floresville native, Vicente T. Ximenes, was sworn in as assistant director for program and planning at the Agency for International Development in Panama. He previously worked in Washington at the Office of Economic Opportunity and the American GI Forum, and is married to Maria Castilla of San Antonio.
La Vernia School will open Wednesday September 1 with an 8 30 a m assembly in the auditorium. Buses operate on last year routes and the lunch room will be in operation. No pre registration for grades 1 through 8. First graders missing spring registration to bring birth certificate and immunization record. Pre registration for grades 9 12 set for August 24 25 with times for each class. Seniors may pick up rings upon payment. Band practice August 23 27 7 9 p m. A preschool remedial reading clinic for grades 2 8 August 23 27 6 7 p m. Notify principal by August 20 if attending. No fee.
Floresville city records show water use of 38,209,500 gallons in July 1965. Water Superintendent Reginald Johnson notes the figure nears an all time high and commends 1132 customers and city staff including Lupe Treviffio for service.
