Large Crowd Expected For Floresville Peanut Festival Talent Show
The Wilson County Farm Bureau announces more than 20 entries for the Home Talent and Variety Show at Floresville Gym Thursday night August 24. Floresville School Band opens the program with many acts including Farm Rhythm Boys, dancing, piano, strings, and comedy. Admission 50 cents adults 25 cents children. Over 50 attendance prizes offered by Floresville, Poth, and Stockdale firms. Prize list includes lamps, bedding, paint, shoes, kitchenware, paint, tools, flour, oil, and services from local merchants. Special notice invites additional donations to support attendance prizes.

Splendid Rains Over Wilson County Reported Sunday

Lynn Stephens Denied New Trial In Slaying
Lynn Stephens, convicted April 21 in Floresville for the slaying of Federal Agent Charlie Stevens, was denied a new hearing. Judge H. D. Barrow overruled the motion and sentenced Stephens to 88 years. The hearing occurred Wednesday with defense attorney Leonard Brown filing 34 exceptions.

Mrs Marion Montgomery, a registered nurse, works with Mrs Carolina Quintanilla to conduct a follow-up chest X-ray survey. They assist those diagnosed with tuberculosis or suspected cases, offer affordable X-rays, teach self care, and facilitate entry to the State Sanatorium at San Angelo. During June, 3,872 people had chest X-rays. the effort is funded by Christmas Seal sales and county support.

Record Holstein cow sets milk and butterfat marks
Fredland Jewel Ormesby, a registered Holstein Friesian cow owned by W M Donaho of Floresville Texas, completed an 865 day production test with 471 pounds of butterfat and 14946 pounds of milk. Milking occurred three times daily, the cow was over four years old at start, testing supervised by Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas in cooperation with The Holstein Friesian Association of America.
