Countywide meeting set for Thursday at 2 PM
A countywide meeting will be held here on Thursday August 24 at 2 PM. The event is part of the CCC Soil Conservation Camp Floresville demonstration program led by I D Parker Area Supervisor and Cook Head of the Department. The visiting Arts and Industries Aggie class will tour the camp and discuss soil and moisture conservation with Lieut Valle and staff. Vocational Agriculture teachers in Wilson County are invited to join the field day and dinner at the camp.

Farm Home Burned In Fire Destroying Pelech Property
Frank Pelech and family in Picosa community lost their farm home and most belongings when a Thursday afternoon fire swept through their peanut field area. Mrs. Pelech, baking in the kitchen, returned to an oil stove burning high and suffered non serious burns as the blaze spread. Firefighters and neighbors aided in evacuation and salvage Sixty percent of the property was uninsured.

Drought Hits Wilson County Cotton Output in 254 Bales Ginned

Light Rainfall Observed in County Areas Sunday
Some sections of the county reported a fairly good shower last Sunday afternoon. A heavy wind accompanied only a sprinkle here. Dewees and Three Oaks received fairly good rain as did other localities, but it was not general.

Former Fairview Resident Killed In Pennsylvania Accident
Alfred Henry Harper a native of Texas and longtime Fairview area resident died after an 85 foot fall while working on a flood control dam intake tower at Tionesta Creek in Pennsylvania He had worked two years in the area and this marked the second work fatality after a worker died of a heart attack weeks earlier Harper usually operated a concrete mixer at the tunnel intake and was employed by George E Carlstrom.
