An Aug 24 Woodmen of the World meeting is announced for Fior esville Camp No. 131. All sovereigns urged to attend and visiting members invited. Also notes Hardy letter on education and school plans for September 11 with teachers and patron cooperation. Leo E Johns and wife spent Tuesday in San Antonio.
Primary election officers are urged to phone in early returns for Wilson County from the Senatorial Runoff on Saturday August 26. If no election is held at a box, report that fact promptly. The Floresville Chronicle-Journal will receive county returns and asks for cooperation as the public and press await a quick, complete count.
The text notes restorations and a community benefitted by a meeting at the Cibolo bridge on a Tuesday. Rev Byrd has been called by the Marcelona Baptist congregation to preach twice monthly there and has accepted.
A revival meeting began at the Fairview Methodist church Thursday night led by Rev. J. D. Scott of San Antonio with assistance from Rev. Pennybacker of Seguin and Rev. Bennett of Boerne. Good crowds attend and strong interest is reported. A second notice states Floresville Mothers Club will meet next Thursday Aug 24 at 4 PM. attendance is urged for all members. Attendees listed include Fords wy A Lorenz Jim Chandler R N Key A J Reinhard Paul Neubauer Jack Wright John de Zerda Aug Stoeltje J Be Moe Kenzie J F Henson H L Hische and others with W H King and L R Wheeler from Stockdale and A A Raabe of Poth.
Karnes City Aug 16 The Commissioners Court of Karnes County appointed Mrs C H Gorham widow of the late C H Gorham to fill out the unexpired term as Tax Assessor Gorham had served six terms and died August 3 in Karnes City The appointment marks the first time a woman has held this office and reflects the esteem and affection of Karnes County for the late tax official
M. T. Payne district agent discussed hiring a county farm demonstrator with County Judge E. D. Mayes and local citizens. The Chronicle-Journal supports the move as prudent, noting neighbors have pursued similar investments and promising more details later. Frio: County Superintendent of Instruction created. A. J. Cook of Moore appointed as the first official in the role.
Cotton brought as high as 14.15 in Floresville yesterday with over 100 bales daily for three days. Prices show $32 per ton and local gins are humming from morning till night. Through press time, 663 bales had been turned out by local gins.
The newly organized Floresville Rifle Club will hold its next meeting this week. A State and County Teachers Examination is scheduled here on Friday and Saturday, September 1 and 2, with teachers and examinees invited to attend.
