Floresville Elementary opens with ribbon cutting and tours
The Floresville Elementary School held an August 8 1996 open house for about 900 students in grades 3 through 6. Principal Tommy Mowles welcomed guests as Senator Judith Zaffirini and Representative Tejeda aide presented flags, with tours following a ribbon cutting by VFW Post 8555. The campus features a cafetorium gym two computer labs a library health clinic and spaces for music art special needs and science.

The Floresville Chronicle from 1899 is unearthed during a farm purchase by Henry and Mrs. Ewald of Seguin. These are the oldest known original copies, loaned to the Chronicle-Journal for a short time, with UT Austin holding the other 1800s edition from 1877.
