Floresville Peanut Festival Prince Elect Jeff Janek

Jeff Janek is named Prince Elect of the Floresville Peanut Festival. He is the son of Felix and (late) Janek Jr and grandson of Felix Sr and Delrose Mattke of Seguin. A Floresville resident active in 4-H and FFA, he helps on the family farm near Path tending a 460 acre peanut crop and plans college with a return to agriculture.

Wilson County Historical Commission Meeting Noted

The Wilson County Historical Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting. The 26th Annual Schwab Reunion will be held Sunday, August, with pot luck at 12:30 pm and a covered dish meal at 1:00 pm. Members urged to attend. visitors welcome. C. Davis, Secretary.

Las Cabras Slide Show At Wilson County Library

UTSA Archeological Research Department conducts a slide presentation on Rancho de las Cabras near Floresville at 7:30 p.m. August 21 1985. Ray Smith and Joe Labadie will explain slides and answer questions. The talk covers Rancho de las Cabras history from the 1770s, its link to Mission Espada, and site details found by volunteers over five years. Aimed at documenting artifacts, walls, kiln and chapel remains, the event highlights Texas heritage preservation and owner engagement incentives.

Festival Princess Theresa Waclawczyk Named 1985-86 Peanut Festival Queen

Theresa Lynn Waclawczyk of Floresville named festival princess elect for 1985 1986 Peanut Festival court by the Peanut Festival Association. She is a student active in church and school clubs with plans for college in business administration. Theresa has ties to Elmendorf San Antonio and Koscilsko, with family members listed as parents Wilfred and (late) Mary Keller and siblings. She selected Jeff Janek as her prince and looks forward to a year of court duties and community involvement.

District Governor Slated For Local Visit

Floresville Lions Club lines up District Governor Nick Sanchez of Laredo Texas for Thursday noon at Wrights Cafe to join the Noon Day Meeting.
