The Floresville Lions Club hosted a banquet August 7 at Wright Cafe to honor Fred Lee Barber son of Mr and Mrs Randall Barber for winning the 1958 statewide FFA tractor contest in Texas. He received a $2700 Fordson tractor from the Stewart Company of Dallas. Local officials and agricultural leaders praised Barber and noted prior winners from Floresville High School.

A group of Floresville youths organized The Cotillion Club to provide wholesome entertainment and combat juvenile delinquency.
