Floresville School Board Rejects New Gym And Classrooms bids
At a called meeting on Friday August 6 the Floresville School Board of Trustees opened bids for a proposed gymnasium and classrooms. General construction bids ranged from 66 337 to 68 000 with the Gianotti Ramsey Construction Company of San Antonio submitting the low bid of 66 887. Electrical bids from three companies ranged from 2 469 to 2 790, with Krause Electrical Company of Bank Antonio the low bidder. No plumbing bids were submitted and the board delayed the project by a few months.

Bond Assumption Tax Rate Approved By Floresville District
In an August 7 election Floresville Consolidated District approved a maximum tax rate of 1.26 per 100 valuation by 128 to 4. The bonded indebtedness of the original districts forming the new district was also approved 128 to 4. Floresville 100 to 1. Sutherland Springs 28 to 8. The district today covers about 840 square miles with a valuation near 2 million, over 700 school-age children, and about 100 more by contract, totaling well over 800 scholastics. Four bus routes will serve the district this year, with two white elementary schools, one colored elementary, and Floresville High School serving the students.

Four Young Ladies Vie For Honor Of Peanut Festival Queen
In Floresville the Peanut Festival crowns a Queen with four candidates sponsored by local groups. Murder Charges Filed Following Man's Death Near Stockdale
Ross R Keylich 31 died after a car collision near the Y intersection north of the Cibolo bridge between Stockdale and Sutherland Springs. J D Wiley of near Stockdale was charged with murder by Deputy Sheriff Ace Fuller, waived examining trial, bond set at 3000, Wiley out on bail. Keylich worked at Kelly Field San Antonio and lived on a farm east of Stockdale with his wife and two children.
