Wilson County hosts a big Wilson County CROP meeting at the courthouse on Tuesday night August 16 to launch the Christian Rural Overseas Program. The nationwide effort, supported by Catholic groups and Protestant agencies, seeks farm donations to feed orphans and refugees overseas. Voters approve final consolidation plan in Floresville district
Voters in the Floresville Consolidated Independent School District approved the final consolidation plan last Saturday in a three-issue ballot. The district will assume bonds, maintain a $1.25 tax rate, and issue $80,000 for new housing to serve the enlarged district including Floresville, Pierceville, Sutherland Springs, Midway, Sunnyside, Camp, Ranch, and Wehmann. Turnout was lighter than hoped, but majorities were decisive in Floresville Box and Sutherland Springs Box with strongest support for all issues.
