Pleasanton Texas Aug 5 peanut growers from Atascosa Wilson Frio and Medina counties met with bankers and businessmen who pledged to hold this year’s crop until it can be marketed at 50 cents a bushel. The conference with more than 250 attendees sought measures to meet current market conditions offering 22 to 23 cents a bushel, a price growers said would not cover production costs. A committee from each county was named to explore holding and marketing strategies. Attendees included Bank of Pleasanton officers and county agricultural agents and bankers from local banks.
Judge Alva Bryan of Waco grand master of Masons Texas with Wilbur Keith of Dallas education secretary visited Flor esville en route to Kenedy for a lodge meeting. Bryan is a leading Texas attorney and renowned Mason. Keith has long served the Masonic educational effort and journalism.

J B Hickman chief justice of the Court of Civil Appeals Eastland seeks the Texas Supreme Court associate justice post. He spent hours in Floresville meeting local bar and citizens aided by San Antonio attorney CG Station. At the August 27 run-off Hickman will face incumbent Judge William Pierson Hunt County. The last primary yielded a tight race with Odie Speer third. Hickman made a strong impression in Floresville.
J E Hickman reports Governor to urge special September session to relieve taxpayers from road bond taxes for counties and road districts. He seeks immediate tax relief for homeowners and property owners this year 1982 and plans a constitutional amendment to bar issuing county and road district bonds for state highway building. Tax relief and legal changes would affect homeowners farms ranches and other properties.
President Hoover extended the duck and brant hunting season this year. Secretary Hyde recommended the move, lengthening the open season to two months in the fall. In Texas the season runs from November 1 to December 81 in the western and northern regions, and November 16 to January 15 in the southern and eastern areas.

Presbyterian Methodist Vacation Church School runs August 15 to 26 with daily sessions 8 30 to 11 am except weekends. Programs include Children of One Father for primary children ages 6 to 8 and How Nations Share for juniors ages 9 to about 12. Supervisors and assistants listed.
A district court contest was filed in Wilson County challenging A B Carnes as the Democratic nominee for sheriff after the July 23 1932 primary. Dick J Robberts claims at least 590 illegal votes were counted for Carnes and seeks exclusion of votes from precincts 9 10 11 and 18 alleging disqualified officials and other irregularities in the election.
