Superintendent Swift invites Wilson and Karnes counties trustees and the public to a 10 o’clock morning board session at J E Swift’s office with a State Department representative to discuss Rural Aid Law provisions. SAN ANGELO Texas Aug 9 Stockmen say green cotton stalks resemble alfalfa hay for feed but cattle avoid the foliage. Once dried the stalks are ground with oats maize and other feedstuffs and eaten readily. Some farmers use a tractor to plow stalks then rake them into piles for curing.

Government predicts record cotton yield despite plowed lands

Washington August 8 government crop reports show 12,314,000 bales forecast for the year despite 10,304,000 acres plowed under. August 1 condition at 74 percent of normal, highest since 1915 except 74.9 in 1931, with 29,704,000 acres expected to be harvested and output per acre about 198 pounds.

Floresville Methodists Plan Daily Vacation School

Daily Vacation Church School at Floresville Methodist Church draws about forty youths each morning this week. Rev. A. A. Carter leads with trained helpers in stories songs and Bible lessons about Jesus life. Evelyn Merchant heads about twenty five primary pupils in art and Bible work while Mrs. A. A. Carter guides juniors in sewing and manual training. Mrs. E F Woolsey Jr oversees songs and Marion Fore directs the outdoor play in a varied program that aims to provide helpful instruction for community youth.

NRA Committee Formed in Floresville By Chamber Head

E. F. Woolsey Jr president of the Floresville Chamber of Commerce announced yesterday the appointment of a five man NRA committee. The panel includes C. R. Eschenburg J. C. Merchant Alex Lieberman W. J. Ellinghausen and John W. Reese with Woolsey added as chairman. The group will liaise with local firms on NRA matters hear complaints and disseminate information.
