W R Johnson, Ford agent for Wilson County and Johnson Garage proprietor, enlarges premises to meet rising demand. He purchased a 30x92 acre facing Second Street from Mrs E D Mayes. A former local auto dealer now partners with Johnson to sell Overland and Ford cars full time.
The Methodist congregation will begin a protracted meeting at Sunnyside next Sunday, Aug. 13, with Dr. Curry of Yoakum arriving Monday to assist. All are invited to attend. R. G. Flummer, Pastor. Claude Cox and wife are visiting relatives in Center Point. Also includes school tax notes comparing Floresville and other towns from 1916 bulletins.
Cotton prices at Floresville by Floresville buyers brought 2 cents per pound for 30 tons. Gins reported 12% bales processed with names of local gin firms. Obituary notes Emil H. Nier died at the county farm after a short illness from pneumonia aged about 43. He was a longtime stockman and unmarried. Burial in Floresville cemetery. Meanwhile local business and social notes include W. R. Johnson buying a 50 acre farm west of town, visitors Miss Iva Lee Rhode and Miss Willie Loyd visiting Floresville, and several residents visiting nearby towns. Six Floresville graduates listed from the University of Texas and other schools, plus local school finances and self-sustaining Stockdale school notes. Mary Lee Lawdon and Lillian Spruce mentioned in visits.
Wilson county initiates a county wide school governance movement with a newly elected County School Board. About 40 trustees attended a court house meeting called by President F G White. A district institute is planned for Thursday with a special program and invited educators to participate. The Chronicle Journal praises the new board and its potential benefits to local schools.
Friday evening convocation of Floresville Chapter No. 160 A A M invites all members and visiting Companions to attend with A D Paulus as H P. Saturday night Floresville Lodge No. 515 A F and A M calls for good attendance and welcomes visiting brethren under Sam Fore Jr W M.
