The City Recreation Department and Floresville High School coach Tom Walker will host a football clinic for boys in first through sixth grades on August 12 from 9 to 11 a m at the high school football field. High school players will demonstrate passing kicking and blocking and encourage parent attendance to help youngsters become familiar with upcoming team players.
The Bureau of the Census will conduct a nationwide employment survey the week of August 14 18 in this area. Directed by Percy R Millard the effort samples households nationwide for the U S Department of Labor data collection. Interviewers will visit homes including Frances R Pegg Route 1 Box 62 Kingsbury Texas 78638.
The Texas State Department of Health will hold a free TB skin patch clinic at the Jaycees Hall on August 15 from 1 to 9 p.m. Due to local TB cases, residents are urged to attend and receive free screening and information.
Floresville Junior High announces enrollment guidance for new students in grades six seven and eight not residing in Floresville. District schools in 71-71 should register accordingly and follow updated procedures.
The Poth Independent School District outlines free and reduced price lunch guidelines, asking families to complete an eligibility survey by Aug. 25. A committee reviews applications, with notices sent in writing and appeals possible if families disagree with decisions.
The Environmental Protection Agency awards Floresville Texas a 314600 grant to fund wastewater system upgrades. Project includes new interceptors lift stations force main and outfall lines plus expanding the treatment facility with an oxidation ditch pumping chlorination and sludge beds. Existing clarifiers to be converted for final clarifiers after aerobic treatment. Total project cost estimated at 752000.
The Path Band Boosters set a meeting for August 17 at 8 p.m. at the Band Hall urging all parents to attend. A veterinary notice from Jaimes Armstrong warns keep horses off sorghum sudan pastures due to sorghum cystitis, especially in younger horses, with cases reported at Texas A&M. Signs include rear leg coordination loss and urinary issues, mares may abort, and no cure exists though some treatments have limited success. The illness peaks from June to November with fresh growth and uncured hay from related grasses as risk factors.
The Summer Reading Program for youths ends Saturday August 12 as certificates for reading at least 12 books are awarded at Floresville Sacred Heart Poth LaVernia and Stockdale high schools. County prizes for most books read will be presented alongside county wide top three. Over 675 children participated reading more than 11 000 books, a county record. Also announced is the annual Beef Cattle Short Course at Texas A&M University August 21 22 focusing on improving reproductive efficiency starting 7 30 a m.
Floresville Elementary announces registration for Kindergarten through third grade and Special Service Children on Thursday August 24 1972. Second and third grade and Special Service children report at 8 30 a m with report cards. Kindergarten and first grade at 8 00 a m to Intermediate School Gym. New students report to the Principal Office at 4th and A Street. Bring 1971 72 report cards and immunization records.

The Methodist Home Boys Ranch in Waco receives about 150000 from the late J R Edwards estate to fund the first boys home unit. Fort Worth businessman Mr Davis notes the project needs a home unit to begin, while J T Stevens of Arlington previously donated 1600 acres for the site and 462 more acres were added near Valley Mills. Completion for the first unit is set for June 1, 1973.
