X Ray Unit Arrives in Floresville August 16
The Mobile X Ray Unit of the American Lung Association Alamo Area will set up on the Court House Square in Floresville for one day, Thursday August 16, with 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 to 6:00 pm sessions. Annual Landowner's Party Honors Pandora Quail Project Partners
Haywood McDaniel announces the San Antonio Bird Dog and Quail Club annual party at the Tabernacle Union Valley on Saturday at 7 30 P M. The event honors the landowners of the Pandora Quail Management Project, with food and a film of big game highlights. The program began in 1946 as a three way agreement among landowners, bird dog men, and the Texas Game Fish and Oyster Commission, now Parks and Wildlife, to boost quail numbers while limiting damage to properties in Wilson and Gonzales counties near Stockdale and Nixon. The landowners and bird dog men, numbering about 26 on 10 000 acres, hosted tests of dogs with blanks and a biologist guiding the quail comeback. By 1956 the state pulled out, but the landowners continued the commitment into a 27th year, celebrating mutual benefits with annual gatherings.
