American Legion Pays Building Bonds and Elects New Officers
The Floresville American Legion Post No. 38 paid off the last of its building bonds issued February 9, 1950, to complete the Legion Home. Forty-two bonds at $25 each funded renovations. donations and labor from individuals and groups aided the project. Randolph Jet Crashes Near Stockdale Killing Pilot
A Randolph AFB F-84-G Thunderjet crashed six miles southeast of Stockdale Tuesday afternoon, instantly killing First Lt. Benton V. Barr, 23. He was ejected about 250 feet from the burning jet that struck mesquite trees on the Fritz Oltmann ranch during a routine training mission. Barr is survived by his wife Nancy Lynn.
