Dr J L Mitchell 55, San Antonio physician, died at home in San Antonio August 2 1936. Funeral in Porter Loring mortuary with Dr J Grady Timmons officiating, burial at San Jose Park. Survived by widow Mattie, brothers W E Mitchell Karnes City J T Mitchell Karnes City and sister Zoe M Darby Houston. He held Masons and Scottish Rite memberships and practiced in San Antonio for 25 years. The Chronicle Journal extends sympathy.

Highway Worker Hurt in Truck Crash on New Route
Bradshaw a Heldenfels Bros. driver on the San Antonio highway project sustained injuries in a Wednesday afternoon truck wreck. The truck overturned after striking an obstacle, causing facial injuries and other damage before emergency crews extinguished a small fire.

Kleberg Wins 14th District Victory Over Seidemann
Congressman Richard M. Kleberg of Corpus Christi defeats Judge Adolph Seidemann of New Braunfels by a 19,114 vote majority in the 14th district. M O T Person Sr Dies At Stockdale
M O T Person Sr, 79, longtime Stockdale resident and blacksmith, died at his home Sunday after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 9 30 in Stockdale cemetery with Rev Mathis of San Antonio and several pastors officiating. Surviving are his widow, four sons and five daughters. Mr and Mrs Elmo Wright of Floresville attended the funeral. The Chronicle Journal extends sympathy to the family.

Bones Of Alamo Heroes Exhumed
SAN ANTONIO Texas July 31 Practically all the bones of three men believed to be William B Travis James Bowie and David Crockett were exhumed yesterday and today reposing in a vault at San Fernando Cathedral They were buried under the original altar by Captain Juan Seguin after the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836 Excavated remains ranged from charred fragments to a jaw bone with teeth intact Some fabric bits and an officer 39 s epaulette were found The bones will remain in the cathedral vault until Archbishop Drossaerts returns for a ceremony placing the remains in a Cathedral niche

The Democratic executive committee of Wilson county met last Saturday at the courthouse to canvass the July 25 primary returns. W. T. Swift presided as county chairman. the official count showed only minor changes from the prior tabulation. DeWitt Murray was elected chairman and S. W. Teas secretary at the county convention. About 25 delegates from across the county were chosen to attend the State Democratic Convention on Sept. 8. no resolutions were passed and the delegates were instructed to vote as a unit.

Mrs Korbell's Father Dies En Route to Centennial
Mr. E M Thomas age 72 father of Mrs A B Korbell died of a stroke near Floresville on August 1 1936 while traveling to the Texas Centennial. He lived two hours at Providence Sanitarium Naco. Body shipped to San Antonio then McComb Mississippi for burial. Family from McComb drove to McComb. funeral held Tuesday at 10 am. Floresville friends extend sympathy to the Korbell family.

Successful Church Night At Methodist Showcases Talks
A well attended Methodist church night featured three excellent talks by Miss Carmen Connally Mrs Robert Wise mans and E L Whitsett and a clear duet by Miss Johnnie Merchant and Rev R K Heacock. Four Mile Stretch Highway 16 Approved For Acceptance
Construction on the four mile stretch of Highway 16 rerouting the San Antonio Corpus Christi highway north of Floresville was approved for acceptance by the State Highway Department. Garrett, the resident engineer, and Heldenfels Bros. oversaw the project with Eddie B. Roan as superintendent and H. T. Bailey as assistant. The project employed over 300 men and more than 71,000 man hours, costing about $28,000 in payroll through a local bank. The new link reduces distance by about two miles and aims to eliminate many danger points in the current route. Final state and federal acceptance is expected soon, with paving date not yet known.

In Justice Precinct No 7 a special election last Saturday decided on beer and wine sales.
