Floresville Sutherland Springs Bond and Tax Rate Vote
Voters in the Floresville Consolidated Independent School District will vote tomorrow Saturday August 7 at Floresville and Sutherland Springs on the assumption of bonded indebtedness and on setting a maximum tax rate of 1.25 per 100 dollars. The election, held at City Hall and the School House, aims to complete the consolidation of the two districts with little opposition expected. If both measures fail, the consolidation cannot proceed.

Football Practice Starts August 15
Under the new State Interscholastic League rule football practice will begin August 15 at Floresville High School. Morning sessions run 8 to 9 30 and evening sessions 7 to 9 00. Equipment will be issued August 16 at 1 00 PM at the Field House. Lettermen and other interested athletes are urged to attend the first day. Governor Beauford Jester appointed select draft boards statewide to implement the new draft law. Karnes and Wilson counties are District 78 with Ed J. Youth Caravan Ends Tonight At El Mesias Church
Friday evening marks the closing consecration service for the Methodist Youth Caravan from Abilene after a ten week summer campaign. Kerosene Stove Causes Fire at Cordova Home
About 5 p.m. at the end of August a kerosene stove exploded and set fire to Joe Cordova s home. Two small boys living there quickly extinguished the blaze with a garden hose before firefighters arrived. Firemen warn that hot weather makes grass and trash fires easily sparked and potentially serious.
