Floresville High School Registration Dates Set

Floresville High School announces 1971-72 registration by class. Seniors register Aug 16 with 8:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:00. Juniors Aug 17, Sophomores Aug 19, Freshmen Aug 20, each 8:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:00. Bring ballpoint pen and prior transcripts if first-time attendees. Athletes may register with seniors. Be Bearer for Queen Tunnep XXVII Nominee Monica Coates

Monica Grace Coates has been chosen as a train bearer for Queen Tunnep XXVII at the 1971 Peanut Festival. She is the daughter of Dr and Mrs Glenn C Coates, with brothers Douglas and Clinton. Her grandparents are Mr and Mrs J E Hendricks of Dallas and Mr and Mrs WC Coates of Temple. She was four years old on July 5 and will attend Church of Christ kindergarten this fall.

Mission de Las Cabras Dedication in Floresville

Wilson County Historical Survey Committee hosts the last Cabras Historical Marker at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Floresville. Historian Richard Santos will present the Eighteenth Century Wilson County landmark. Rev Benedict Leutenegger of San Jose Mission may attend to discuss early missionaries and establishments at the dedication July 8 at the American Legion Hall.

Friends and relatives gathered at the White House Cafe on Sunday August 1 1971 to celebrate the Teltschik family business milestone. Floral arrangements featured 55 vases of zinnias from Uncle Fritzs garden.

Registration for Sacred Heart School Opens This Summer

Registration for Sacred Heart School for the upcoming term will be held Sunday August 8 and Monday August 9 through 10 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. New students must bring baptismal or birth certificates and record of immunizations including smallpox diphtheria polio tetanus mumps rubella and measles. First graders must be six by September 1 and kindergartners five by September 1. The school opens Tuesday August 24 with half day classes the first week. teachers conduct in service August 16 to 20.

Band rehearsals start August for Floresville schools

All Summer rehearsals begin Tuesday August 10. Floresville High School band meets Tuesday and Thursday at 7 30 p m. Junior High rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday at 9 00 a m. All members must attend to receive music uniforms and equipment.

Arthur Gembler Unit 375 of the American Legion Auxiliary will hold a regular meeting at their home on Highway 181 South near Loop 410 on Sunday August 8 at 2:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the business meeting and games.

The 4-H Family Fun Night on July 29 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Sacred Heart Parish Hall featured an acquainting game and three age groups for scoring. Judges named four winners, with two winners per age group 1 12, and gifts were given.

Four Wilson County students Deborah Tewes Diane Wilson Dick Boll and Johnny Guerrero attended a four day Citizenship Seminar on Baylor University campus. The Texas Farm Bureau sponsored the trip with Wilson County Farm Bureau and Flor esville Jaycees support. Debbie Tewes daughter of E Tewes Stockdale will enter senior year as FHA president NHS secretary and band member. Diane Wilson daughter of Jonah Wilson will lead Brahma Pep Squad and FHA. Richard Lee Bolf son of Richard and Mrs Bolf of Poth will be a Poth High senior active in golf football basketball and track.
