McClure to be Honored at Texas State Vocational Meet
L F McClure vocational agriculture teacher at Poth Texas for 25 years will be honored by the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas at Fort Worth August 10. He taught 22 years in Poth and earlier at Port Lavaca and holds degrees from Texas A and I College. Other area teachers Allen Drozd Carl Richter and Melvin Neill will attend the In Service Education Workshop August 9 12 at the Hotel Texas Fort Worth.

Sam Fore Jr longtime publisher and Freemason receives a fifty year scroll from San Antonio Commandry No 7 Knights Templar of Texas at the South Broadway Masonic Temple on August 1 1966. Wintford H Owen Grand Sword Bearer presided. Fore began in Floresville Lodge 515 in 1913 became 32nd degree Mason and shrine member and served as district deputy grand master.

Candystripers Plan For Convention
The Candystripers of Memorial Hospital met in the solarium to arrange the District III Convention arrangements. They will finance the snack bar and furnish the arrival snack. They seek centennial dresses and swimwear from the Gay Nineties for a style show. Sally Bruce, president, noted a Candystriper will represent the Red Bird Auxiliary in the Peanut Festival Coronation and Parade. Genevieve will be the new Candystriper sponsor. The next meeting is set for Thursday Aug 18 with a group photo planned. All members urged to attend.

Nelson Program Off To Good Start in Three Counties
From the office of S E Bubba Newman E O D C at Atascosa Karnes and Wilson Counties the Nelson Program in the three counties began strongly last Monday with most participating cities showing positive effects. Head Start ended July 29 with six schools calling it a great success and administrators praising the pre school summer program. Newman notes administration costs for the programs dispersing monies are under 3 percent, a notably low figure.
