Wilson County students attend Farm Bureau Citizenship Seminar

Four Wilson County High School students attended the Farm Bureau Citizenship Seminar in Waco last week, sponsored by the Wilson County Farm Bureau with Floresville Jaycees and Jaycee-Ettes. Participants include Walter G Scull from LaVemia and Denise Pawelek from Poth, both noted for FFA, 4-H, NHS, Beta Club, and band roles. Registration for Sacred Heart School Opens Later This Month

Registration for Sacred Heart School will be at the School Office on August 10 12, from 5 7 p m. All new students must show baptismal or birth certificates and records of smallpox diphtheria polio tetanus rubella and rubeola immunizations. Students entering first grade must be six by September 1 and kindergarten five by September 1. The school opens Monday August 21 with half day classes. Teachers in service August 14 18.

Peanut Field Day August 3 at Wilson-Atascosa County

The Wilson Atascosa County Peanut Demonstration Farm Field Day will be held Thursday August 3 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tours of the farm and farm machinery displays, gate prizes, and a noon meal sponsored by the Peanut Growers Association are planned. Demonstration plots cover seed varieties row width seeding rates fertilization land prep and ground versus air fungicide. Peanuts will be 105 days old on August 3. The farm is on Farm Road 1784 near Farm Road 536 and Highway 97 with directional markers at the site.

Accident Claimed Life of Stockdale Man

A Plymouth Fury driven by Thomas Wayne McBride of Stockdale failed to negotiate a curve north of Stockdale early Saturday July 29. It left the highway 430 feet, struck a tree and sank in a pond, killing McBride who was reported unconscious and drowned. Justice of the Peace C.M. Carter pronounced him dead at the scene around 2:30 am. The body was found submerged. Patrolman Mauricio Cantu and Deputy J. L. Rice investigated with Highway Patrol and Wilson County Sheriff’s Department assisting.

Mrs Isabel Fahrenthold 85 of Poth Texas was taken to Memorial Hospital Foresville by Myers Ambulance of Stockdale Friday July 28 after being struck by a trailer truck on Carol Street in Poth She was walking south when the truck driven by Fernando Garza turning onto Carol Street from the highway struck her right front fender causing cuts and bruises The driver said he did not see her Until the moment of the mishap Police Patrolman Vermon Martin and Deputy Sheriff Alvin Moczygemba investigated at about 10

Youngbloods Recover After Auto Truck Mishap Near Town

Mr and Mrs Joe Youngblood are at home following a truck auto collision near town on Saturday July 22 about 4 00 p m. The wreck occurred when a truck driven by Abraham Alonzo of San Antonio lost control on slick pavement and skidded into their car. All three were taken to hospital for treatment.
