A public works assistance program is available for Ilson County as of a fork at Calaveras Dam. A comedy ball game is set for Saturday August 19 between the Floresville Jaycees and Jaycee-Ettes at an evening start.
Austin based Carl Richter a 20 year Vocational Agriculture teacher in La Vernia Texas will be honored by the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas in Dallas on August 9 The award cites twenty years of service to the Texas program The four day statewide conference will feature education leaders and focus on new approaches in Vocational Agriculture Education Approximately 1400 teachers and friends are expected to attend
Raymond Lodge brought the first bales of Wilson County cotton to the Farmers Gin Co. at Poth on July 13 from Beech Farm in Loma Vista. The initial two bales weighed 590 pounds with 2100 pounds of seed. Eleven more bales from irrigated fields have since been ginned, totaling thirteen bales.
Home personnel attend a Bi-District meeting in San Angelo today and tomorrow. County Supervisor Phy lom H. Cox, Assistant County Supervisor Robert R. Atkins, and County Office Clerk Mrs Lillie L. Foitik from Floresville left yesterday for the meeting, expected to discuss changes and policies for 1968.
Coach DeWayne Scott announces Floresville Fighting Tigers football workouts start Monday August 14 1967. Freshmen and returning players urged to run, drills, and sprint work daily with two a day sessions beginning 9 to 10:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions, plus a 7:30 p.m. meeting August 9 for booting shoes, medical forms, and student insurance.
Falls City football players must report to the Field House at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9 for their physical. Attendance is important for all players.
Oil news notes a 1 900 foot Path wildcat well planned in Wilson county a mile northeast of Sutherland Springs and just southwest of the Gloriana Field production under the Oil News by Nancy Heard with Pierce and Davis 67 Ltd at Mid land 610 Wilco Ridg No 1 W A Childress to drill in the area.
There will be no meeting of the Mrs. Joé Shriber County Chairman. The notice states the meeting has been postponed with no rescheduled date given. Community members are advised to watch for further announcements from the county chair’s office.

Miss Linda Johns will represent Floresville in the Miss Austin Aqua Festival Beauty Contest in Austin on August 8 9. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Dan Johns of Floresville and works for Liebermans. Johns was finalist in the Miss South Texas Contest in Seguin. The Austin Aqua Festival is a major national event.

The City Public Service board of trustees awarded the $12,633,000 dam and spillway contract to H. B. Zachry Co. of San Antonio for the Calaveras cooling lake near Braunig Lake. Construction starts September, the first 400,000 kilowatt power plant unit is due in 1972, with three years to fill the lake using treated sewage effluent.
A 1963 Buick driven by Russell Earl Harrison and a Ranchero driven by B W Adams collided at the Business Loop intersection of 181 and 97 at 5 30 p m Monday July 31. Harrison and his wife escaped injury while Adams sustained a knee scrape. Major damage occurred to both vehicles. Harrison traveled east on 97 and Adams north on 181. Police Chief H W Cale, who investigated, said both kept within speed limits. State Patrolman Douglas Sanford assisted at the scene.

The Wayne Bristow Evangelistic Crusade designates August 19 1967 as Youth Night during the week of August 6 12 at the Tent meeting on Highway 18. Evangelist Bristow will speak at 8 00 p m to those 13 24 with a fellowship in the First Baptist Church educational wing.

The junior psychology major earned at least a 2.25 GPA in the most recent semester and completed 15 hours with no grade below a C. Distinguishd Student ranking is limited to the top 10 percent of undergraduates. Millikin plans postgraduate work after graduation.
