84 cars of threshed grain and corn shipments marked the first large scale move in the Poth Floresville area. Poth shipped 69 cars, Floresville 15, with maize and hegari predominating. Growers earned strong prices and a handsome income, as Floresville moved 3 corn cars and 11 popcorn cars by Thursday, while Poth loaded 2 more. Peanut shipments also advanced, with Floresville reporting 19 new crop peanut cars and 18 peanut hay cars, signaling heavy shipments to come. Filleman's Father Buried in Hondo Cemetery
Charles Fileman 78 a long time merchant and trusted Medina county resident died at a Hondo hospital July 25 after three years of illness and pneumonia. Funeral at St. John's Catholic Church Hondo and burial in Woodmen of the World Cemetery drew a large turnout. Born in D’Hanis he spent most of life in the county with a dry goods business in Hondo and a stint in Uvalde.
