Floresville Opens New Elementary School Open House August 8
Floresville Independent School District invites the public to an open house for the new Floresville Elementary School on Thursday August 8 at 7 00 p m in the cafeteria. The 120 000 square foot campus serves about 900 students in grades 3 through 6 with a cafetorium gymnasium two computer labs TENET access a library and health services. Back to school events follow on August 22 for grades 3 and 4 and August 26 for grades 5 and 6.

James X Mills Dies After Vehicle Collision in Floresville
James X Mills, 85, of Floresville Texas died after being struck by a northbound F 150 pickup on Fourth Street while crossing near Vinyard Funeral Home. The San Antonio driver did not see him. Mills died Monday July 22 1996 from injuries.

17 year old Maggie Ward faces murder charge for the February shooting death of her mother Jane Ward in Floresville. Trial is set for Sept. 30 with a pretrial hearing Aug. 26.
