Floresville Junior High Band Wins Sweepstakes for First Time Since 1973
Floresville junior high band earned sweepstakes at the Hill Country Festival in Smithson Valley last Saturday April 24. The group placed Division I in Concert and Sightreading contests from four judges and had 17 Division I solos and numerous high ratings overall. Band director Cathy Teltschik credited students with hard work and pride from the achievement as one of Floresville’s few in over two decades to attain the rating.

Tragic Mishap Claims One Life in Texas Collision
A fatal crash occurred April 21 1982 at 1124 am on Highway 87 north of Sutherland Springs Texas when a 76 pickup crossed into the southbound lane colliding with Randy White's 1982 Ford. White of Floresville died from massive head injuries. Ybarra of Seguin survived with injuries.

Bishop suffers serious injuries in Sunnyside crash near Compton Dairy
One vehicle driver Gayland Pelech of Sunnyside area sustained serious injuries late Saturday night April 24 when his car ran out of control near the Compton Dairy. He was found 75 feet from the wreck after the crash and taken to a San Antonio hospital for treatment.

The front wheel locked, the bike toppled, throwing him 25 feet. He stopped with his head under a fence. wire cutters aided extrication as DPS officer Ken investigated.
