Floresville debated citizens concerns on code enforcement with a resident challenging a one-house-per-lot rule while another complained of alleged city administrator deception. The council approved eastbound C Street and 3rd Street closures for First Lady Anita Perry’s May visit and a Main Street designation, with plans for a golf course neighborhood and community park.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison met with Floresville residents and Floresville Independent School District students at City Hall on April 10 2001. Local officials including Wilson County Judge Marvin Quinney and Mayor Raymond Ramirez spoke as Hutchison outlined tax cuts education and national defense priorities. The visit emphasized public education health care and defense with praise for Wilson County Courthouse and historic ties to Texas independence.
Floresville Peanut Festival selects Brittany Pruski as Queen Tunap LVII for the 57th annual festival. First runner up Tiffany Farris and princesses Sarah Moczygemba Pam Payne and Nannel Ullmann named. Coronation planned for October at Floresville High School auditorium. fundraiser barbecue chicken dinner set for April 29 at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
First Lady Anita Perry will dedicate Floresville as an Official Main Street City on Tuesday April 24 at 11:00 a.m. A stage on Third Street in front of the Wilson County Courthouse will host the ceremony with media coverage statewide. Various community events follow including a blood drive, Little League opening, and county government week activities through April 27.
