FISD Approves $18.6 Million Bond Election
Floresville Independent School District trustees on Tuesday unanimously approved an $18.6 million bond election for May 19 2001 to fund new buildings renovations and additions. If approved the district may raise the tax rate by up to 20 cents per hundred dollars valuation, with state assistance possible reducing the impact. Current enrollment across campuses totals 3 348 and all campuses are near capacity.

Nockenut Cemetery Memorial Service With Texas Markers
The Nockenut Cemetery Assn plans its annual memorial service on Sunday April 29 2001 at the cemetery nine miles northeast of Nixon on Farm to Market Road 1681. Texas First Lady To Tour New Main Street Cities

Woman Dies After Car Hits Truck on Farm Road 539
Rose Marie Diaz-DeLeon died from injuries after her car struck the end of a large truck driven by Guillermo Benavides on Farm Road 539. Accompanying passengers were Randy Esparza, 18, Joe Diaz-DeLeon, 11, and Andrew Diaz-DeLeon, 7. Andrew and Rose Marie were airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio, where she died Friday. Jackson Nature Park forms with 50 acre site near Stockdale
The newly formed Jackson Nature Park board met at donor Cloma Jackson's San Antonio home. Officers elected were Buddy King president, Gaylen Click vice president, and David Travieso secretary. The 50 acre tract on County Road 401 East of Stockdale, bordered by Cibolo Creek, will become a nature park with plans for an entrance, parking, restrooms and later a visitor center and amphitheater. A Texas Historical Commission study and wildlife surveys are planned, and fundraising will cover development and legal fees. The next board meeting is April 19, 2001. The Wilson County Veterans Service Office will be closed April 10, 2001, reopening April 17. The Spring Fredericksburg Antiques Show opens April 21–22 at Gillespie County Fairgrounds.
