Old 72nd Indiana Vols Reunion Postponed for 1904

Peaceful life of John Treat noted in local obituary

John Treat, born October 17 1841 in Rockingham County Virginia, spent his life as a farmer in Ohio before retiring to Flora. He joined the Old Order German Baptist Brethren church sixty years ago and was among its early counties members. Funeral services were held at the Old Order house with burial in the Moas cemetery.

Honor to Miss Pansy Turner at Mrs Arlbrights gathering

Mrs Ernest Arlbright hosted a Friday afternoon event in honor of her sister Miss Pansy Turner of Marion. Trouble Near Roseville in Alienation Suit

Charles Allen files a $2000 suit in Clinton circuit court against Andrew J. McCarty for alienating his wife’s affections near Roseville. McCarty previously faced a theft allegation of ten bushels of corn, dismissed after three days in jail amid questions of motive. Allen’s filing asserts sensational charges while his wife remains in an Indiana asylum. farm ownership noted. Also reports Rev. M Huckleberry elected Grand Army chaplain at the Warsaw encampment.

Eider Lilly Birthday Celebrated at Patton Farm Home

A large gathering marked the eighty sixth birthday of Eider Jas. Lilly at Patton with relatives friends and neighbors sharing a dinner and religious exercises led by Elder Jackman who delivered a fifteen minute sermon on The Great Birthday. Lilly received a Morrie chair and urged all present to join in worship prior to the meal. Rossville Stock Show enjoyed strong attendance with about forty premiums and total cash payouts around 285. Judges John Briggs and William Donlin praised displays of horses cattle and hogs. Other items note a new Miller Telephone Directory the Crume child custody case and a local Wild Cat outing with a mixed social group. A local undertaker introduced a casket lowering device and Roy Alexander visited N N Smith’s home.

Clymers Railroad Agent Nabs Suspect in Peru Assault Case

Saturday at Clymers the agent spotted a suspicious stranger matching a Peru theft suspect. The dispatch informed Logansport, and Sheriff arrested the man who fled to Peru for trial on a serious charge. He allegedly entered Mrs. Elizabeth Sellers home and assaulted her. she escaped and attempted to shoot him.

Bowen Guilty and Sentenced in Howard County Case

Bowen, not yet twenty one, pleaded guilty after prosecutors and defense discussed a lighter jail term. Judge Elliott sentenced him to a state reformatory range from one to twenty one years, with possible release at minimum term, in a sensational Howard county proceeding. Expo Train Crew Deliver Clocklike Service From West

Will Kromm of Rockfield and engineman R. Dykeman on the Pennsylvania railroad’s Expo Train are praised for near clocklike punctuality. They run Logansport to Fort Wayne daily, covering North Manchester to Denver in 42 minutes, moving at about a mile a minute when water stops are made. Also noted is a Baptist Sunday school picnic on the Wild Cat Bank led by Miss Millie Lyons with an excellent turnout.
