The Flora race meet drew top horses and a track record was lowered to 2 12 by William Mack in the free-for-all pace. Shades and Harry placed second, Ruby Mack third, and organizers moved to suppress gambling devices after discovering scam activities among privilege holders.
Dr Hurty warns malt mead drinks misnamed as beer may cause stomach trouble due to low alcohol content and preservatives. State Board of Health findings label them non alcoholic substitutes, not beer, with risks from sediment and dead microbes. Niccum Todd and Co holds a candie burn contest for a six foot tallow candle. Candles burned ten days ten hours fifty eight minutes. Congressman Landis secured four consignments of bass and crappie from the Bureau of Fisheries in Washington for local streams. Plantings will occur in Deer Creek at Camden, the Wabash at Pittsburg, and Wild Cat at Cutler and Burlington. Farmers along the streams back the project and expect protection against seine fishing as support from authorities is maintained.

Lolla Fivey won for working longest as a single woman in the county.
William Homer and Frank Ratcliffe of Cutler were captured in Frankfort after allegedly breaking into John Sellars home in Sedalia around 1 am Tuesday. Sellars reported being awakened, threatened, and robbed as neighbor Grubbs fired a shot at the intruders before they fled. Warrants were issued and the sheriff placed the men in custody.
