County commissioners cut the 1922 levy to 280 250 to be raised, down from 376 000 last year. Tax per 100 drops from 1.15 to 0.96, with county valuation at 29 500 000, down 3 200 from 1921. Hospital levy set at 0.76, current expense down to 0.36, and state and municipal levies listed with local district figures.
Mrs. H. R. Comegys, 53, wife of H. R. Comegys, died Tuesday afternoon at county hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been recovering from an intestinal operation two weeks earlier. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 PM from the Methodist church with interment at LG O and cemetery.
Interest grows in radio concerts scheduled Friday and Saturday at the Gem theater tied to the showing of two motion pictures. Mrs Tanner, Gem manager, believes the public will applaud the enterprise bringing the first genuine radio concerts from distant cities to Filer.
The Filer Women's club hosts the annual public reception for local school instructors at the Rural High School building Friday evening. Mrs H G Hammerquist chairs the entertainment. the high school orchestra will perform. punch and wafers will be served. Welcome address by Mrs C E Deal with replies from Supt George B E Denman and Supt R L Peck.
A report from the A Guibert ranch north of town on the state highway notes alfalfa seed yields eighteen bushels per acre from six acres. Most seed sold for 14 cents a pound, yielding $294.10. Eighteen hundred pounds remain to be sold and may raise total returns for the six acres if sold at current price.
Mins Ruth Creasey left Sunday for Wesinville Oregon to attend school. Zelin Barherat of Twin Falls and Sam Kalbfleise were in town last week. Mary, daughter of Mr and Mrs Nat Boman, visited W T Harding of Bahl. Mrs Kalbfreisch sick list this week. T H Bille and Paul delivered vegetables to Jarbidge. District residents to attend Rural high school reception Friday at the high school honoring Filer school tractor drivers.
Mrs Cecil Parry of Tein Falls wife of an ex service man reported losing two bags at the county fair Friday containing among items $40 with her name on a club dues receipt. Friends of the lady say she is in need and secretary M Markel notes the loss.
Filer high school football to open the 1822 season with Burley at Burley after a schedule set by regional roaches in Twin Falls. Other games include Buhl on Sept 6 at Filer, Twin Falls Oct 23, Oakley Oct 20, and Rupert Oct 27 at Filer with Armistice Day open. interdistrict eliminations set for November 4 and 17, with the state championship on November 24. Tomorrow an exhibition game is set at 4 PM after the squad was trimmed to 50 men.
A total of 163 students are now enrolled at Filer High School, a record registration. Eight registered only this week, and the gain is about one third more than last year, per Supt. George L. Denman, listing new registrants Faith Mills, Constance Mills, Maurice Cole, Marie Davenport, Niron Phillips, Byron Berry, Leslie Ennis and Charles Lapp.
The Filer Women's club plans its first meeting of the year at Mrs M J Goode's home on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Bitter E Haag will lead a Verdi study with selections from Falstaff. Key club matters will be discussed. hostesses include Mrs Goode and Mrs Charles Fox plus several other members. Members invited to a reception by the Twentieth Century club next Tuesday in Twin Falls.
Local notes record visits by multiple Bennetts and others to the Krohn home and family gatherings. Methodist items announce Bible school at 9:00, promotion day, Sunday school board meeting September 26, and regular worship services with evangelistic themes and a school rally on October 1.
The American Legion play Sittin Pretty by Filer post entertained Twin Falls county fair patrons. Directed by Howard E Sabin, the musical comedy drew praise for charm humor and polished staging with standout performances by Mrs A B Anderson Rex Kimmel W C Nueman and Thelma Shear Leah Timm and others.

The Hubel Bend band, directed by G Jennings, provided musical entertainment, while free attractions and dining halls drew crowds. This seventh annual county fair closes as a success, meeting the community’s aims.
Conrad Wolfle, president of Idaho Central Railway, announced that the Rogerson Welles line survey has begun. A Wells end crew is at work and a Rogerson starting crew will begin next week. Idaho and Nevada public utilities commissions have deferred action on Twin Falls Chamber petitions seeking to cancel the permit.
The Maron Sunday School will elect officers and teachers for the coming year this Sunday. Current officers include Superintendent F. Me, treasurer Greenwood, Charles Conover, and Bag Se a e. A general invitation is extended to residents of the Marve district to attend.
