Snyder Hardware Company to Close After Ten Years of Service

The Snyder Hardware Company founded by B. H. Snyder will go out of business Saturday November 1 after ten years. The stock is sold to Filer Hardware Company, which will relocate from its current site to Snyder’s Main Street store. Snyder retires to focus on ranching after 25 years in business. Twin Falls Salmons River Water Case Upheld For Settlers

The Supreme Court denied the Twin Falls and Salmon River water company an appeal, upholding state court decisions favoring A. E. Caldwell and other settlers. The dispute centered on a 50 cent per acre maintenance charge to cover construction of a check basin after project acceptance. The ruling reverses the circuit court of appeals and supports settler rights in the water project funding. Justice J. R. Bothwell represented the settlers.

Canal Company Gets Big Refund

The Twin Falls canal company and other irrigation districts received checks totaling about 14 425 dollars credited to the American Falls reservoir project contracts with the federal government. The payments, dating three years back, were to support participation in the irrigation system and the future storage water project. Credit was recorded by government officials after American Reservoir district president RE Shepherd delivered the district’s share on October 1, and $1 200 000 of the district’s payment was invested in U S treasury certificates with interest credited to the district. Also noted were Labor Day border crossings at Tia Juana and district conference preparations in Rupert under Bishop H Lester Smith, plus routine local visits and travels.

Supt. BD Bloom of Twin Falls schools addressed the Filer Kiwanis club Tuesday praising Kiwanis ideals and the group’s drive to mobilize a large election day turnout. A straw vote at lunch favored Coolidee with 16 votes while Davis earned 6 and Folletts plus others received the remainder. Hospital Gets Booze Decrease in Foreclosures

Reported during a sheriff’s inquiry is a shift at the county hospital where a nurse used a substitute for alcohol in check-rubbing. The chemist estimated the returned counterfeit liquor had a value of 76 to 90 dollars. The sheriff notes a drop in farecloware crimes from 64 in July to October 1923 to 43 in the same months this year.
