Fire destroys Yakima avenue market building in early Friday blaze
Fire of unknown origin destroyed the Pier Veal and Poultry market on Yakima avenue and Front street early Friday at 6 am. The building belonged to Nibley-Channel Lumber, run by B C VanAusdem with the Van Ausdem family living upstairs. Van Ausdem escaped through a rear window. Mrs. Van Ausdem and infant were away. Loss pegged at about 9000 with 2000 insurance. Nibley-Channel carried 1500 insurance. Heavy rainfall aided firefighters from Pilers and nearby services. The long shed and adjoining plant were saved. Boine-Payette Lumber yard narrowly escaped danger.
