Charles Diehl, University of Idaho student, broke his hand in a Moscow football scrimmage and must return home. Murder of J H McQuown shocks Salt Lake area
A coroner inquest into the killing of J H McQuown a former Buhl Idaho mayor while he and Miss Rhoda Tanner were forced from their car on a lonely road ended with an indefinite verdict. Mark Collins of Chico California alleged to be the bandit is held on circumstantial evidence as Miss Tanner and police matched descriptions. A 45 caliber pistol believed used in the murder was found nearby and identified by Mrs Collins on her husband’s property.

The H Three O club hosted a gym reception for freshmen seen as the most enjoyable event so far. Lynville Brown returns after a 10 day absence with a broken leg and uses crutches. Hot lunch service continues and many students take part. Report cards issued with mostly satisfactory grades and some needing extra effort to avoid semester failure. An editorial staff for the school paper is elected. Library use runs 40 to 50 daily with over 1200 volumes plus magazines. Efforts to field second football team continue as smaller boys vie for spots. Scout executive Mr. Douglas Hawley spoke on duty and future plans, urging preparedness for life. Mrs. Wean represented the State.

The Gem theatre will host two films tied to the Ogden Livestock Show. One depicts Ogden canvys and environs, the other covers January events including local livestock and exhibitors.
