Mrs Lovina McCleary aged 76 died at her Filer Idaho home after months of illness. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev C K Deal officiating. Her son Charles McCleary, chairman of the village board, will accompany the body to Beloit Kansas for burial. She was born October 26 1864 in Wayne County Ohio and married Holmes McCleary in 1883. Survived by sons Reot Charles and W McCleary and daughters Mrs W S McGinnis and Mrs C B Levith. also a niece Mrs Grace McInnia. The family moved to Filer five years ago from Beloit Kansas.
American Legion will hold a smoker and big feed tonight at the LO. O. F. ball. A committee including B. V. Jones Winn Deurig and Bar Monyon will stage a program said to surpass previous efforts. Legion men are invited.
Work on the new el garage building is advancing with indications the Chronicle Antnrnnbite shows an early May date. If the date holds, Twin Palle Oh calls for rapid progress amid outside demand. Mr. Steverson hinted at a deal.
The Masonic fraternity of Filer have been invited to the Buhl order to attend lodge at that place the afternoon. It was planned to begin the work early in the afternoon and it is expected that the session will continue into the evening. Many Masons from Filer plan to go to Buhl today.
Mr and Mrs Beem announce the birth of a daughter Bartara Itelen at Royd hospital in Twin Patle on Monday. The mother and baby are reported in good condition.
Plane are practically complete for the annual Potato Breakfast to be held in the high school auditorium at Twin Falls tomorrow evening. The Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce has been in charge of the event which has not been held during war time. Several toasts will be given and a good time in store for all attending.
The Woman's club dinner is set for Wednesday evening at the Methodist Episcopal church basement with reserved plates to be paid before the day. An executive meeting of the Pier Woman's club is planned for April 25. The Wednesday afternoon meeting was postponed due to the dinner, and next week's program awaits confirmation for April.
Pearl Bell aged 22 and companion Mrs Stangland were arrested in a Glendale bungalow on forgery charges. They allegedly endorsed checks with a near replica of Judge Warren L. Williams signature to obtain funds for lingerie shoes jewelry and a phonograph. Williams denies signing any checks and only one woman claimed the attorney as her client. Authorities report seven charges locally with more in Orange County and Boise relatives alerted.
A district rural leaders meeting is set for Saturday at the county farm bureau office. Delegates will finalize plans for the annual conference between farm bureau women and junior members, with several related matters on the agenda. The event, a regular affair, is expected to draw a large attendance.
Mrs T E Moore, chairman of the West Coast drive, reports that $106 of the $150 quote has been raised. Filer is asked to contribute this morning in the national drive for the worthy institution. It is hoped the quota will be reached this week so Filer can maintain her reputation for always bringing in “over the top.”
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Himer Haag at Boyd hospital in Twin Falls on Monday. The newborn has been named Kimer B. Jr.
Topeka Kansas report on a lecture by HE Smith of Lawrence before the State Borticultural Society arguing that the Bible’s fruit was a lemon not an apple. He claims the word translated apple refers to the fore tree and that the field fruit comprises eight lemon varieties.
In Fostoria a sausage making contest saw Mrs Bates of Rising Sandaime set a record with a 138 inch long related exhibit while Mrs Mary Hufford of Fremont won first prize for a single entry of 13 inches in length.
