Filer Highway To Be Paved This Year

Idaho bids indicate construction of the Filer district highway will begin by July 1 with completion aimed for January 1. Plans call for a solid concrete pavement, 18 feet wide and varying thickness, using a mix of concrete sand and gravel. Buildings Rise at Fair Grounds as Premium List Nears

Activity at the fair grounds continues with new buildings under construction including a 200 by 20 foot machinery building divided into sixteen booths and a new office block near the entrance. Premium lists are expected around July 1 as plans for improvements are finalized. Salt Lake entertainment acts have been secured for the coming fair and the June issue of Fairdom, a county fair paper, praises Twin Falls events.

Public called to help in search for missing Ackerly

A community call went out inviting one hundred men to assemble at Yakima avenue and Main street tomorrow to aid in the search for Ackerly, missing since Monday evening. Charles McCleary, Wynn Duerts, and L. D. Allen urged volunteers as sheriff’s office and Twin Falls officials seek clues. A previous search Tuesday night found no tracks along the state highway.

Filer businessman Ackerly missing under mysterious circumstances

Ackerly, a 27 year old filer business man and owner of Pep Pie meat market on Main Street, vanished after leaving the shop Monday afternoon. Last seen between three and eight o clock, he was reported missing with fear of foul play as he carried over $100 and had not occupied his bed at the Marion House. Local search continues as friends and business partners, including EB Powire, express concern. Ackerly, formerly of Burbank California, served on the 316th ammunition train in the war and held a respected position in the American Legion.

Thieves Break Into Filer Auto Co Garage

Thieves entered the rear door of Filer Auto Co garage early Monday, broke in, and stole $13.75 in change along with two convenient auto casings. Manager J C Reichers could not identify the culprits. Raleigh Drake drove to the scene and left after pursuing suspects who fled through a side entrance. No other properties were reported stolen Sunday night.
